This Christian toy brand investigated - but the math just ain't mathin'

We are a Christian toy brand and get asked all the time. Why don't you put your toys in Target? 

We tried twice, and we were rejected twice. it's not an accident... 

Quick backstory (stay with me): My young girls' favorite toys were stuffed animals.  They were with them, morning, noon and night.

But they had no spiritual value.  Like empty calories - but toys  🍬🍫🍭... 

As a Christian parent, I felt bad because I missed a huge opportunity.

Why didn't we just get them a plush Jesus that spoke Bible verses? ✝️ 

Well, I looked.  I went to Target - just Mario and Spiderman.  Target.com - nothing.  Walmart, Amazon - same.

My spidey-sense said something was up...

More on that in a minute. 

First, I think God was actually showing me something. It really got me thinking...

The Talking Jesus Doll idea played over and over in my head like the Macarena - I couldn't make it stop 🛑

If i wanted Christian toys, then lots of people probably wanted them...

So, we designed a doll and contacted hundreds of manufacturers. Only two responded. One nailed it. ✨

Of course, the next logical step in any business is to wire your kids college savings to a company in halfway around the world that you never met. 

My faith was at least the size of a mustard seed.  My friends said my brain was too... 🧠

Amen! they arrived! 🙏 

We launched on Kickstarter and nearly hit our 30-day funding goal in 3 days! 🚀

But, this was cancel culture era. Kickstarter killed our project.

I guess "Love your neighbor" was now hate speech❤️

A barn full of dolls. No way to sell them. 

Then God said: 'Hold my holy water'…

Newsmax heard about the cancellation and put us on TV📺  

Orders came in like fish in Peter's net on the other side of the boat! 🐟 

From down-and-out to selling out in under a month. 

Fox News had us on and orders rained down like manna. 🥖   It was amazing. That really put us on the map..

People loved it.  We got thousands of 5⭐reviews.  It wasn't the rating, but the stories:

😊 Kids memorizing Bible verses before they could read.

❤️ Parents having conversations with their kids about Jesus.

✅ Grandparents sharing their faith with their grandkids.

This doll was changing lives.  I realized this wasn't a product. It was a mission...

And we made a whole portfolio of toys, books and games. And we sold over 100K.  

All that backstory to show that we were legit. A proven company. Not some startup.  So we went back to Target. They said... 

They said "doesn't align to our current category priorities".  Okay.. So what are your priorities?

On Target's shelves, all you see is Marvel, Lego, Disney, Hasbro, Pokemon... The big guys.  Why?

A LA Times article that said mass retailers largely choose to stick their shelves with proven brands and mass awareness. 

Spiderman, for example, has billions of ad spend for movies and generational age recognition. It's a pretty safe bet for mass retail... 

So, its all about the Benjamins, then right? Maybe not...

I get the shelves, but we were rejected for their website.

We are a proven brand with products people love...

Sour grapes?  Not just us, all Christian toy brands.

But here's what has me scratching my head. Jesus is the most revered and reognized person in history. Spiderman can't hold a candle to him... 

Brand recognition, awareness: Jesus by a mile (in their shoes) 👟 ... 

Plus, a hundred million Christians shop at Target every month. If it's about money, that's easy money. The math ain't mathin' friends. 

Here's what WE know...

Christian toys are not on Target's shelves or on their website. 

And they weren't on our Bingo card either.  Until we realized this...

All so you can have Christian toys for your girls and boys.  

We don't need Target because our business is powered by tens of thousands of Christian parents and grandparents that value Christ themselves - and prioritize sharing that with their kids and grandkids.

That's a real priority 😇.  That's where WE are focused.
