What happened to Christian toys?
Once a staple of faith and childhood, they’ve quietly disappeared from store shelves.
There was a time not long ago when Christian toys mainstream in culture.
From Noah's Ark playsets, Little Golden Books, ViewMaster Bible stories - most kids grew up with these.
It was the norm. So much so that JC Penney had an entire religious products page in their 1986 catalog.
And Christian toy makers were even lauded in national news coverage.
In 1986, a national news story was written about Grace, a pro-life talking teddy bear.
1997, an article in a national newspaper was written about a woman that made a stuffed Jesus Doll.
And, as late as 2007, an article about a company with a Talking Jesus action figure being carried in Walmart nationwide.
That's about when the wheels fell off...
Big Toy became big business. Then the landscape changed.
In the Big Box stores today, all you see is Marvel, Lego, Disney, Hasbro, Pokemon... The big guys. Why?
Toy brands consolidated; Big Box streamlined suppliers.
Economies of scale said to sell one product a million times vs 1000 products 1000 times.
A LA Times article that said mass retailers are choosing to stock proven brands and mass awareness.
Spiderman, for example, has billions of ad spend for movies and generational age recognition. It's a pretty safe bet for mass retail...
So, its all about the Benjamins, then right? Maybe not...
Here's what doesn't make sense. Jesus is the most revered and recognized person in history.
✅Brand recognition
✅Propensity to spend
✅Brand loyalty
On all business metrics, Spiderman can't hold a candle to him...
Plus, a hundred million Christians shop at these stores every day. If it's about money, that's easy money.
But the toys are not there. The math ain't mathin'...
So if it's not money, what is it? What do Big Toy and Big Box have in common?
Their largest shareholders are Blackrock, Vanguard and State Street control up to 36% of each company.
Its like that for almost every company.
When you control the votes, you control the culture.
For example, ESG and DEI were creations of these companies grip on corporations.
And, that's when Marvel heroes became gay, white men in every commercial became dufuses, movies became woke lectures...
if you peel the onion back a bit further, you'll find that these hedge funds are run by people that reject Jesus and have a long history of destroying Christian cultures...
The toy industry is petrified and prevented from making, selling and marketing Christian toys.
But we aren't ✝️...
We make Christian toys for girls and boys.
Jesusdoll.com is an independent company that makes Christian toys, books and games.
We are building on the shoulders of those companies that proved Christians want their kids to have toys with values.
We made the Talking Jesus Doll when we realized nothing like this existed for our kids in their critical formative years.
And we are family run with no hedge fund overlords - just tens of thousands of Christian grand/parents that value Christ themselves - and prioritize sharing that with their grand/kids.
Please check out our products. And teach your kids before the World does.
